DPR staffs certified American Red Cross lifeguards year round in order to serve District residents and guests at DPR Aquatic Facilities. In order to maintain this level of excellence DPR regularly hosts training sessions to certify those interested in becoming lifeguards.
Sessions include conditioning exercises and complete American Red Cross lifeguard training in three areas: Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) /AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for the professional rescuer.

Class Pricing
Standard class prices are listed below. Classes may be free of charge to candidates under consideration for a DPR summer position. Submission of a Preliminary Employment Application is required in order to be eligible for a fee waiver. To apply, go to the Summer Employment section of the website. Submission of an online application for summer employment will be verified prior to a fee waiver being issued.
