10th Street Park - Park Development

A new park at 10th Street, NW between L and M Streets opened in April 2011.

The 0.20-acre site fronts 10th Street, NW and is bounded to the north by an alley; to the south by a residential building; and to the east by an alley. Access to the park is from 10th Street.

Working with the neighborhood, DPR has designed the new park to include:

  • Hardscaped plaza
  • Open lawn
  • Play area with unitary rubber surface and creative play structures, such as climbing boulders
  • Landscaping featuring native plants
  • Bio-retention areas to control stormwater
  • Decorative water feature
  • Low-level lighting
  • Furnishings such as benches, tables, chairs and trash cans
  • Elements memorializing local activist Connie Maffin and recognizing community service in general
