 Abandoned and Dangerous VehiclesDPW’s Abandoned Vehicle Operations (AVO) inspectors circulate throughout the District looking for abandoned and dangerous vehicles to investigate then remove from public and private property.  Booting and ImpoundmentVehicles that have two or more unsatisfied parking or photo enforcement tickets that are 60 days old may be booted and towed. All fines and boot/tow fees must be paid before the vehicle is released.  TicketingParking officers write tickets for expired meters and vehicle registrations, missing tags, residential parking violations, and other parking violations.  TowingIf a vehicle has been ticketed, DPW tow crane operators may tow a vehicle for any parking violation. Typically, DPW tows vehicles that pose a danger to the public or impede the flow of traffic.
