Department of Public Works Among Sponsors of GreenDC Week, April 17–23

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) is among the sponsors of GreenDC Week, a citywide festival of educational events timed to coincide with Earth Day. Each day during GreenDC Week, April 17-23, is dedicated to a particular environmental theme, such as air quality, renewable energy, waste reduction and clean waterways. The varied events will be hosted in different areas of the District and will highlight the city’s environmental successes.

Over 40 organizations, including environmental groups, nonprofits, government agencies, churches, utilities and universities have come together to produce community events that will engage citizens in service, introduce them to local environmental leaders, and demonstrate the link between environmental stewardship and quality of life.

Featured events include an environmental film festival; an Anacostia River clean-up; lectures; an extensive exhibit area; a Green Buildings tour; and a free household hazardous waste and e-cycling dropoff for District residents.

Visit the GreenDC week website for more information about GreenDC Week activities and sponsors.
