Press Release for Immediate Release January 9, 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule Announced (Washington, DC) The following is the schedule for Department of Public Works (DPW) services for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, January 15, 2007  District government offices will be closed for the observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Most services will be suspended, including DPW trash and recyclables collection, street cleaning, parking enforcement, and towing. All services will resume on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. The trash and recyclables collection schedule will slide one day for the remainder of the week citywide. The Fort Totten Trash Transfer Station will be closed on the holiday. Regular hours for citizen drop off are Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 5 pm and on Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.
