Press Release for Immediate Release

November 21, 2007

Most DPW Services Suspended Thanksgiving Day

(Washington, DC) Department of Public Works (DPW) offices will be closed Thursday, November 22, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Most DPW services, including residential trash and recycling collections, will be suspended for the day; however, leaf collection will not be interrupted. Also, as is customary with all observed holidays, there will be no DPW parking enforcement, including rush hour, meter and residential parking restrictions.

Citywide trash and recyclables collections will “slide” one day. Households that normally receive city service on Thursday should set out their trash and recyclables for collection no later than 6 am Friday. Friday’s trash and recyclables will be picked up on Saturday. Residents of twice-a-week neighborhoods will have normal collections Monday and Tuesday; however, Thursday’s collections will be made Friday and Friday’s collections will be made Saturday.

All DPW services will resume Friday, November 23.
