Directions from North Capitol Street
- Travel north on North Capitol Street, NE, and turn right at Fort Drive, NE
- Continue straight ahead to the first traffic light. At the light, Fort Drive becomes Taylor Street, NE
- Continue downhill on Taylor Street NE; move over to the right lane
- At the light at the bottom of the hill (intersection of Taylor Street, NE, and Hawaii Avenue, NE) continue through the traffic light, and immediately bear right at the foot of the bridge
- Turn left at the stop sign and proceed straight ahead to the end of John McCormack Road, NE (John McCormack Road, NE, ends at Bates Road, NE)
- At Bates Road, NE, turn left and proceed to the Fort Totten Transfer Station entrance at the top of the hill
Directions from South Dakota Avenue, NE
- From northbound South Dakota Avenue, NE, turn left onto Michigan Avenue, NE
- Follow Michigan Avenue and turn right onto John McCormack Road, NE
- Take John McCormack Road to its end at Bates Road, NE

Turn left onto Bates Road and proceed uphill to the Fort Totten Transfer Station
Directions from Nebraska Avenue, NW

From Nebraska Avenue, NW, turn right onto Military Road, NW, which becomes Missouri Avenue, NW

At Georgia Avenue, NW, make a quick right and then a quick left back onto Missouri Avenue

Turn right on southbound North Capitol Street, and bear left onto Hawaii Avenue, NE

Turn left onto Taylor Street, NE, and immediately bear right at the foot of the bridge

Turn left onto John McCormack Road, NE, go under the bridge and continue to its end at Bates Road, NE

Turn left on Bates Road, NE, and continue uphill to the Fort Totten Transfer Station

Travel north on Michigan Avenue toward Catholic University.

Just as you are ascending overpass, make left on John McCormack Road.

Take John McCormack Road (past Catholic University campus buildings).

Fort Totten Trash Transfer Station entrance is located straight ahead. Do not bear left onto Bates Road.
