(Washington, DC) DPW’s Office of Recycling will hold its next computer and electronics “e-cycling” collection at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre parking lot on Saturday, April 24 from 9 am - 3 pm. Additionally, there will be recycling collection bins for aluminum cans, recyclable (nickel-cadmium) batteries and athletic shoes.
Residents may bring televisions and audio-video equipment, cell phones, home office equipment, computers, computer parts and computer components for end-of-life disposal or recycling. All computer monitors and TV screens must be intact—not cracked, punctured or shattered.
DC has also partnered with the National Recycling Coalition and the Nike Reuse-a-Shoe Program, which collects old athletic shoes, separates the primary components (fabric/leather, foam, rubber) and shreds them into materials that are then used to fabricate surfaces for playgrounds, athletic courts and sports fields.
