(Washington, DC) Mayor Vincent C. Gray invites the public to attend DC government’s free, citywide “Truck Touch” event on Saturday, June 11, 2011, from 9 am to 2 pm at RFK Stadium, Lot 7. A host of District government agencies will display nearly 30 high-tech vehicles and demonstrate how they are used to clean and repair streets, change traffic lights, collect trash, clear snow, provide emergency services, administer mobile health care and more.

“DC workers use an array of high-tech equipment to perform vital city services each day that require a high level of expertise and skill,” said Mayor Gray. “This is an opportunity to show residents how the work that impacts their lives and the city’s infrastructure is performed and to give folks the opportunity to climb aboard and experience the equipment for themselves.”

This is the city’s fourth Truck Touch, which is coordinated annually by the DC Department of Public Works (DPW). The event will feature vehicles from DPW; the Departments of Transportation, Health, Employment Services, Parks and Recreation, and Fire and Emergency Medical Services; the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, the Metropolitan Police Department and DC Water.

Information on various government services also will be available.
