Next Household Hazardous Waste, E-cycling, Shredding Scheduled for Saturday, July 2 at Ft. Totten Transfer Station

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Public Works announced today that the next monthly household hazardous waste/e-cycling/personal document shredding drop-off day is Saturday, July 2, between 8 am and 3 pm, at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station, 4900 John F. McCormack Road, NE. This service is provided the first Saturday of the month, except holidays.

Free compost also is available at Ft. Totten to residents every Saturday, except holidays. The compost can be used for residents’ gardens and neighborhood beautification projects.

Residents may bring unwanted toxic items, such as pesticides, batteries and motor oil.
Electronics, including televisions, computers and cell phones, also will be accepted. Residents may bring up to five boxes of personal paper documents and credit cards to be shredded for free.

Directions to Ft. Totten: Travel east on Irving Street, NW, turn left on Michigan Avenue, turn left on John F. McCormack Road, NE and continue to the end of the street.
