(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will kick off the 3rd annual Great Graffiti Wipeout on May 24, 2018, 10:30 am at 3020 14th Street, NW. Following remarks from DPW Director Chris Shorter and other city officials, a graffiti removal demonstration will be provided on a recently tagged wall.
The event marks the official beginning of an 8-week graffiti removal blitz throughout all 8 city wards. During last year’s graffiti blitz, DPW crews cleaned more than 600 graffiti markings and removed more than 3,000 posters and stickers from public spaces.
Great Graffiti Wipeout is part of the District’s celebration of National Public Works Week, recognized this year from May 20 through May 26. National Public Works Week is sponsored by the American Public Works Association (APWA), whose executive director will also be speaking at the event.
