DPW Opens Blue Plains Impoundment Lot Customer Service Center

Thursday, August 20, 2009

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the grand opening of its Blue Plains Customer Service Center this month. The Blue Plains Impoundment and Storage Facility at 5001 Shepherd Parkway, SW, is where vehicles with outstanding tickets are towed once they are booted. Previously, citizens had to pay all fines, boot and/or tow fees at the Department of Motor Vehicles Adjudication Office at 301 C St., NW. The new customer center will now mean a one-stop trip for customers paying with check, debit or credit card.

“This center will save citizens a significant amount of time when retrieving their impounded vehicle,” said DPW Director William O. Howland, Jr. “Customers now can pay their outstanding ticket, boot and tow fees online at the impoundment lot instead of travelling to 301 C Street, NW to pay these fees. That trip, made using public transportation, can take about an hour.”

Customers whose tags have expired also may renew their registration online at the center and print a temporary registration.

The impoundment lot customer service center is open weekdays from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.dpw.dc.gov.
