The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) announced today that residential and commercial drop-off at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station, located at 4900 John F. McCormack Road, NE, will be closed Monday, September 20, 2021 through Friday, September 24, 2021, due to a fire in a bulk pile outside of the facility. The fire was extinguished without incident by the DC Fire Department. At this time, no bulk drop-off will be accepted. Service is expected to resume Monday, September 27, 2021.

Household trash and recycling collection for residents serviced by DPW will be collected as scheduled.

Residents can request bulk collection service by visiting www.311.dc.gov to make an appointment or download and schedule an appointment using the 311 mobile app available at the Google Play and Apple App stores.
