The Department of Public Works (DPW) MuralsDC project will celebrate the development of its second mural of the season during “Art All Night” on Saturday, September 24. The mural, created by local artist Cita Sadeli, will be painted throughout the length of the alley alongside 637 T Street, NW. “Art All Night: Made in DC” is the District’s free overnight arts festival.
MuralsDC is a DPW-funded graffiti prevention initiative that replaces tagged walls with original works of art. The alley at 637 is a constant target of graffiti and other types of vandalism. The mural will pay homage to local greats of jazz, Go-Go, Hip Hop and R&B with a series of historical images and references. Another MuralsDC project is currently underway at 4411 14th Street, NW, and will be completed next week by DC artists Rose Jaffe and Kate DeCiccio.
