REVISED: Mayor Bowser to Kick Off Graffiti Removal Blitz and Unveil New Litter Prevention Campaign as Part of Back to Basics DC

(Washington, DC) – On Wednesday, May 15, at 4 pm, Mayor Bowser will kick off the fourth annual Great Graffiti Wipeout and unveil a new ‘Not in My DC’ litter prevention campaign as part of her Back to Basics DC initiative. The Department of Public Works’ (DPW) graffiti abatement team will embark on an eight-week graffiti removal blitz through all eight wards. The litter prevention campaign will include new street signs, free yard signs for residents, advertisements featuring notable District residents, and targeted enforcement.

Following the announcement, Mayor Bowser, Acting DPW Director Chris Geldart, and other Administration officials will lead a community walk through the Kingman Park neighborhood.

Back to Basics DC celebrates the day-to-day work that keeps Washington, DC going. As part of Back to Basics DC, the Mayor highlights the work of DC government employees, showcases innovations in service delivery, and shares information about how residents can help keep Washington, DC a great place to call home.
