Wednesday, November 8, 2017
Sanitation services will be suspended for the day. Fort Totten and Benning Road transfer stations will be closed on Veterans Day. DPW will enforce parking restrictions along the streetcar line on Veterans Day.

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will observe Veterans Day on Friday, November 10. As such, sanitation services will be suspended on Friday, resuming Saturday, November 11. Parking enforcement will also be suspended, with normal operations resuming Monday, November 13.

Friday trash and recycling collections will “slide” to Saturday for those who typically receive trash and recycling collection services on Friday.

The Fort Totten and Benning Road transfer stations will be closed Friday, November 10. The Fort Totten transfer station will reopen Saturday, November 11 to residents between 8 am and 3 pm. The Benning Road transfer station will reopen on Monday, November 13 to residents between 1 pm and 4:30 pm.

Leaf collections will be made on Veterans Day.

Streetcar parking enforcement is daily, including weekends and holidays, e.g., Veterans Day, along H Street and Benning Road NE, between 3rd Street and Oklahoma Avenue NE. On Sundays and holidays, streetcar parking enforcement is between 8 am and 11 pm. Enforcement on Mondays—Thursdays is 6 am to midnight; and on Fridays and Saturdays, enforcement runs between 6 am and 2 am. Normal enforcement citywide of other parking violations resumes November 13.

DPW provides essential city services in two distinct program areas: environmental services/solid waste management and parking enforcement. Both contribute to making District streets and public spaces clean, safe, attractive and accessible for all residents, businesses, commuters and visitors.
