(Washington, DC) If you have DPW collection service, setting out trash and recyclables after a public holiday is now easier than ever. Just remember to “slide.” Whether you have your pick-up once a week or twice a week, all trash and recyclables collection slides one day forward for everyone.
For example: If a holiday falls on a Monday and your trash days are normally Tuesday and Friday, then your trash will be collected one day later—on Wednesday and Saturday following the holiday. If the holiday falls midweek, say on a Wednesday, then Wednesday’s collection slides to Thursday, Thursday’s collection slides to Friday, and Friday’s collection will be picked up on Saturday.
Veterans Day is the only exception to the rule this year. Trash and recycling will be collected on Friday, November 10 as usual.
