President's Day Trash and Recycling Collection Schedule Set

(Washington, DC) In observance of the President's Day holiday, Monday, February 16, there will be no trash or recycling collection, no sanitation Enforcement, no nuisance abatement, no towing or abandoned vehicle removal, no parking enforcement, including meters, residential and rush hour lane restrictions. All services resume on Tuesday, February 17.

Recycling collection slides one day for the remainder of the week, i.e. Monday's recycling will be picked up on Tuesday, and so on. 

For those residents with once-weekly trash collection (Supercans), service will also slide one day. 

Blocks that normally receive twice-weekly trash service will have Monday's trash collected on Tuesday. Tuesday's trash will be picked up on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday collections will be made on the scheduled day. 

DPW's schedule for the remainder of the week will be as follows:

Tuesday, February 17

  • Supercan neighborhoods: Monday's trash will be collected. 
  • Twice-weekly neighborhoods:  Monday's trash collected.
  • Recycling:  Monday's recyclables collected.

Wednesday, February 18

  • Supercan neighborhoods: Tuesday's trash will be collected. 
  • Twice-weekly neighborhoods: Tuesday's trash will be collected.
  • Recycling: Tuesday's recyclables will be collected.

Thursday, February 19

  • Supercan neighborhoods: Wednesday's trash will be collected.
  • Twice-weekly neighborhoods: Regular Thursday trash collection.
  • Recycling: Wednesday's recyclables will be collected.

Friday, February 20

  • Supercan neighborhoods: Thursday's scheduled trash will be collected.
  • Twice-weekly neighborhoods: Regular trash collection.
  • Recycling: Thursday's recyclables collected.

Saturday, February 21

  • Supercan neighborhoods: Friday's trash will be collected.
  • Recycling: Friday's recyclables will be collected in all neighborhoods.
