Mayor Bowser Directs DC Snow Team to Pretreat Roads in Advance of Forecasted Tuesday Night Snow

The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain overnight on Tuesday, continuing through Wednesday morning. The DC Snow Team will fully deploy with more than 200 heavy and light plows starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday to pretreat treat all National Highway System, primary, secondary and residential routes within the District. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.

Residential Mechanical Street Sweeping to Resume March 1

(WASHINGTON, DC) The Department of Public Works (DPW) will resume residential mechanical street sweeping on Thursday, March 1. To ensure streets are swept thoroughly, motorists are asked to obey the signs posted with the days of the week and hours of the day when parking restrictions will be enforced. The fine for violating this restriction is $45. Signs posted along street sweeping routes indicate that the program runs from March 1 through October 31.

Winter Weather Advisory Issued for District, DC Snow Team to Treat Roads

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the District through midnight, forecasting up to 2 inches of wet snow. In addition to yesterday's pre-storm anti-icing operation, The DC Snow Team will be out this evening treating the District's National Highway System, primary, and secondary routes, and residential hot spots. Crews are actively following 311 service requests so residents are urged to call 311 to report slippery roads that require salting. 

DC Snow Team to Pre-Treat Roads with Liquid Brine Ahead of Saturday’s Wintry Mix

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The DC Snow Team will be pretreating the District’s primary, secondary and National Highway System routes this evening starting at 8 p.m. with anti-icing liquid brine in advance of Saturday’s forecasted blend of snow, freezing rain, and sleet. The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix that will begin Saturday afternoon and last late into the evening. In addition to the pre-storm anti-icing operation, the DC Snow Team will be monitoring the storm throughout the weekend and is prepared to treat roads with rock salt should it be necessary.

DC Snow Team to Deploy at Midnight, Ready to Treat Roads Ahead of Wednesday Morning Commute

The DC Snow Team will be called in at midnight to closely monitor temperatures and precipitation, with 150 heavy and light plow trucks ready to treat District roads as necessary. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.
