(Washington, DC) – The Department of Public Works (DPW) and the Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH) will paint 10 additional murals as part of its collaborative MuralsDC program. This week murals began on the alley wall of 624 T Street, NW, adjacent to the Howard Theatre and at 1210 V Street NW, adjacent to the Ben’s Chili Bowl mural in Ben Ali Way. This summer, MuralsDC celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a new mural on the wall of Ben’s Chili Bowl on U Street.
Washington, DC) – Drivers can now enroll in a new service offered by the DC Department of Public Works (DPW) to receive electronic notifications if their vehicle has been booted, towed, or relocated in the District.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Department of Public Works (DPW) will accept District residents’ household hazardous waste and e-cyclables on Thursday, August 3 and Thursday, August 31 from 1pm – 5pm, in addition to our regular Saturday service from 8am – 3pm at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station, 4900 John F. McCormack Drive, NE.* DPW will also provide document shredding services on Saturday, August 5 from 8am – 3pm for up to five boxes (or equivalent container) of documents, such as bank statements, credit cards, and pay stubs for shredding from each resident.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Department of Public Works (DPW) released the District’s Compost Feasibility Study today along with an accompanying letter from DPW Director Christopher J. Shorter, outlining steps the District will take to advance composting in the District and the Washington metropolitan region.
The Compost Feasibility Study, issued in May 2017, provides an overview of the compost initiatives underway in the District and assesses the feasibility of the District implementing an organics curbside collection program. This study is the first of three studies that will inform the development a Zero Waste Plan, to achieve 80% waste diversion District-wide.
