(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Public Works announced today the March 2015 schedule for disposing of household hazard waste, e-cycling and personal documents at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station*.
Weekly, Saturday HHW and e-cycling drop-off schedule: March 7, 14, 21 and 28 between 8 am and 3 pm.
Start date is postponed due to wintry weather this week.
(Washington, DC) Mayor Muriel Bowser will deploy the District Snow Team, starting at 11 pm Wednesday, February 25 with a full deployment of more than 200 snow trucks that will be on their routes by 1 am Thursday, February 26. Wednesday morning, the District Snow Team began pre-treating bridges and ramps with a sodium-chloride brine mixed with beet juice to help retard freezing on these surfaces.
Regretfully, we continue to have problems with regard to the icy condition of many of the alleys and how this affects residential trash/recycling collection. We truly regret the inconvenience of having to hold onto your trash and/or recyclables until the next collection day when weather conditions create unsafe circumstances for our collection crews.
(Washington, D.C.) Mayor Muriel Bowser deployed the District Snow Team, today February 18 ahead of today’s expected snow. Snow trucks were on their routes by 2 pm. The storm system should reach the region Wednesday afternoon, bringing accumulating snow of half of an inch. The low temperature overnight is predicted to be around 10F and windy. Thursday morning’s temperature may reach a high of 17F.

The forecast calls for a mix of snow and rain with temperatures in the low 30sF and a high of 38F Wednesday afternoon. A slushy coating is forecasted for DC.
