Benning Road Transfer Station

Project Description:  A rebuild of the Benning Road Transfer Station that ensure operations for Department of Public Works to be more efficient and environmentally sustainable. The rebuild will contain technological advances that will positively impacts on the environment and neighboring communities.

2024 Monthly Updates 

February Milestone 

• The Community Advisory Team held their first meeting. At their next meeting, they’ll discuss options for engaging the larger community around design. 

• The team is preparing for the third and final stage of abatement work (currently with the Office of Contracts and Procurement). 

March Projections 

• The team is aiming to release solicitations for abatement- phase III, demolition, design/builder, and construction manager. 

• Site visits to transfer stations in New York and New Jersey to learn more about potential design options.
