The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announces revisions to the RFK Parking Policy for events at the Stadium. The revisions, to go into effect in June 2005, are intended to increase understanding, convenience and enforceability while encouraging Metro use. The revisions reflect comments received from Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners, other community leaders and the public to the proposed revisions issued on May 13th.

The new stadium parking policy includes:

• Elimination of the RFK Stadium Special Permit zone closest to the Stadium and enactment of Residential Permit Parking (RPP) for 7 am – 8:30 pm with “No Parking During Stadium Events” restrictions throughout the entire stadium enforcement zone (The zone boundaries are, for Capitol Hill: Maryland Avenue and Benning Road, NE, the Anacostia River, Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, and 13th Street, SE/NE; for River Terrace: East Capitol Street, Kenilworth Avenue, Benning Road (all NE) and the Anacostia). The blocks that do not currently have RPP designation but are within the stadium enforcement zone will receive RPP designation in early June 2005. The Department of Motor Vehicles will issue new motor vehicle registration stickers for residents of these “new-RPP” blocks. The annual $15 RPP fee will be prorated for the time remaining on the vehicle registration.
• Mailing one RPP Visitor Parking Permit to each household in the Capitol Hill and River Terrace communities (described above) in Wards 6 and 7 in late May 2005. Additional Visitor Permits will be available from the Metropolitan Police Department.
• Starting enhanced enforcement in this RPP area at game time (usually 7 pm for night games, 1 pm for day games) without a two-hour grace period and for only two hours after the start of the game. DDOT will send a RFK event schedule to all residents in this area. RPP will be regularly enforcement when there are not RFK Stadium events.
• Permitting cars with a valid RPP sticker for Wards 6 or 7, or a valid RPP visitor pass or a 2005 RFK Special Event Parking Permit to park in the designated area without ticketing or towing.
