Summary:

The DC Department of Public Works, Fleet Management Administration, has recently completed a new, full-service, fully automated fueling station that will be able to serve the CNG vehicles, as well as the city's conventional fleet.

The fueling station itself is a state-of-the-art, computerized facility that electronically identifies the vehicles that come in and logs all their services, including fuel and fluids. Conversely, unauthorized vehicles will be shut out. Completion of this facility represents the latest milestone in a three-year operations improvement plan that began when the Mayor took office.

The District of Columbia now owns a total of 165 environmentally- friendly vehicles powered by compressed natural gas, more than any other city on the East Coast. The CNG vehicles produce 80 percent fewer emissions than conventional cars, contributing to improved urban air quality.
