Sandbags weigh 40 to 50 pounds and residents will need to load them into their vehicles.

(Washington, DC) The DC Department of Public Works will continue to distribute sandbags to District residents, with DC identification, at RFK Stadium, Lot 7, today, Thursday, September 8, to midnight. Residents will be given up to five sandbags per household. The sandbags weigh between 40 lbs. and 50 lbs. and residents will need to load them into their vehicles.
Residents who received sandbags yesterday or last month before and during Hurricane Irene are asked to refrain from coming back for more.
Hurricane season ends in November, so residents are asked to hold onto their sandbags, just in case.
