DPW to Host Online Chat to Promote Community Cleanups, Garden Clubs

Citizens invited to join live, hour-long discussion to learn about the Helping Hand program and the agency’s efforts to keep vacant lots, public spaces clean

The Department of Public Works (DPW) Solid Waste Enforcement and Education Program (SWEEP) will answer questions from a live, online audience during a one-hour chat Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at 12 pm. SWEEP staff will provide information and answer questions about DPW’s Helping Hand program, which loans tools and provides free leaf compost and bags to assist with community clean ups and garden clubs. The agency also will provide tips on how citizens can help keep abandoned lots clean.

Residents can join or follow the discussion at dpw.dc.gov/livechat once the chat session begins.  Residents also may submit questions in advance on DPW’s Twitter account, Facebook page, or by email to [email protected].
