(Washington, DC) Beginning this week, all city trash and recyclables collection will “slide” one day following a public holiday. In the past, the post-holiday schedule was staggered, with one collection schedule for Supercan areas, and another schedule for households in twice-a-week collection neighborhoods. Now the routes have been harmonized allowing uniform trash and recycling collection citywide.
This change affects about 25 percent of DPW customers—those who have twice-weekly trash and recyclables collection. For them, Monday’s collection will be made Tuesday; Tuesday’s collection will be made Wednesday; Thursday’s collection will be made Friday, and Friday’s collection will be made Saturday.
Once-weekly (Supercan) trash and recyclables collection will slide one day for the remainder of the week, beginning Tuesday, May 30.
